Are you looking for an internship that offers more than just selling popcorn and peanuts?

The Harrisonburg TURKS has an opportunity for you.  Interns with the TURKS learn what it takes to run a baseball club on a daily basis.

 

The administrative staff of the TURKS are at work year round.  The Valley Baseball League season is  an action packed 44 game schedule that includes 22 home games, a League All Star game, and possible play-off games.  Interns are only required to attend and work the home games.  Spring and summer internships run from January through the second week in August.  These are non-paying positions.


Duties May Include:  
*Advertising Sales

*Marketing Programs
*Creating Special Events Nights
*On Field Promotions 
*Ticket Sales

*Concession Operations 
*Souvenir Operations

*Game Day Operations

*Press Releases

Positions Require:
*Plenty of energy
*Friendly, outgoing personality
*Good communications skills
*Willingness to work as part of a team
*Knowledge of the game of baseball
*Computer skills a definite plus

Internships available in the following fields:

Broadcasting            Sports Management          Communications

 

 

Broadcasting Intern
 
 Ideal person will be outgoing and interested in sports (preferably baseball), broadcasting and/or sportswriting.  Job duties will include:  Writing, research, on-air broadcasting, interviewing and other baseball-related projects as assigned.
 
Writing
        -Game summaries, player and coach profiles
 
Broadcasting
        -22 home games, approximately 3 hours each on radio and internet.
 
Research
        -Preseason player and coach research, opponent research, Valley League and Turks basic History research.
        -In season statistical research (web), trends, observations etc......
 
Interviewing
        -Player and coach interviews mostly live, some prerecorded
 
Projects
        -Turks marketing and promotional projects that involve writing and or/community relations.

Sports Management Intern
 
Ideal person will be energetic, friendly, outgoing, good with dealing with the public and being in front of crowds.

Job duties will include:  Game Day Operations, On Field Promotions, Turks Promotional Events, could include working with concessions, souvenirs, and ticket sales.

Communications Intern

Ideal person will have good verbal and writing skills, be attentive to details, have an outgoing personality.

Job duties will include writing home game summary articles, articles on Turks promotional events, writing feature articles on Turks, and press releases to be sent back to players schools.
